About this machine
What it is and what it is good for.
A Berthiez TM500 SP single column vertical turning lathe built in France in 1979 — a machine for work that very few shops in Europe can accept. The table measures 6 300 mm across and carries up to 80 tonnes, with 4 000 mm of usable height under the rail and 3 600 mm of arm travel.
It turns and mills. Two milling attachments come with the machine: one head running at 3 000 rpm for high speed work and one at 1 500 rpm for heavier cuts. The ram section is 360 × 360 mm and the main drive is 100 kW.
The electrical equipment is original and old. We can retrofit the machine with a new control and new drives before delivery if you want it — tell us what you need and we quote that scope separately. The machine weighs 250 tonnes; dismantling, loading and transport are part of what we do.
