What it is and what it is good for.
A 5N580 semi-automatic gear tooth rounding machine. It rounds the ends of the teeth on external spur and helical gears and on internal spur gears, using an end mill, on workpieces up to Ø 320 mm in module 6.
Tooth end rounding is what lets a sliding gear engage cleanly in a gearbox instead of clashing. Any shop that makes or repairs transmissions needs the operation; without a machine like this it has to be done by hand or sent out, and neither is good enough for production.
The machine was built for the automotive, tractor and machine tool plants of the Soviet bloc, and the type has been in production since 1969. Spindle runs from 1 400 to 2 000 rpm on a 1.1 kW drive; the machine takes up only 1 730 × 1 200 mm of floor and weighs 3 260 kg, so it goes almost anywhere.
At € 2 000 it costs less than a year of sending the work out. Send us an enquiry for further photographs and delivery terms.
