What it is and what it is good for.
An IMUAB SC-125/160D double column vertical turning lathe built in Romania in 1980 — one of the largest machines of its kind still available on the second hand market. The table measures 10 000 mm across and carries up to 200 tonnes, with 5 500 mm of usable height and a maximum turning diameter of 16 000 mm.
It has two rams. The right one travels 3 500 mm vertically and does the turning; the left one travels 2 500 mm and carries the milling spindle — Ø 225 mm, ISO 50 taper, 6.3 to 317 rpm. Both rams are 500 × 500 mm in section. The face plate turns from 0.125 to 5 rpm, the range a ten metre workpiece needs.
This is the size of machine used for turbine casings, large gear rims, wind energy components and pressure vessel parts. The machine itself weighs 850 tonnes; dismantling, loading and transport are part of what we do, and we can also retrofit the control before delivery.
