About this machine
What it is and what it is good for.
Long-bed centre lathe built by SARO, Romania. Ten metres between centres, turning Ø 710 mm over the guideways and Ø 342 mm over the long cross-slide, carrying up to 3 000 kg between centres when using a steady rest.
The main spindle offers 12 speeds from 8 to 1 250 rpm, driven by a 22 kW motor. Machine weight 11 700 kg. It comes with a face plate and four steady rests — enough support points to hold a long shaft along the full ten metres.
