Mechanical trimming press 1000 t

A 10 MN mechanical trimming press — the eccentric press that stands next to the hammer in a forging line and trims the flash from hot forgings. The ram strokes 310 mm at 20 strokes a minute over a table of 2 290 × 1 600 mm.

Die space runs from 1 050 to 1 560 mm, with 200 mm of ram adjustment to set the shut height for each die. A top ejector with 100 mm of stroke and 0.1 MN pushes the part out after trimming.

It is a two-point press: two connecting rods driven by eccentric wheels on the left and right, which keeps the ram parallel under an off-centre load. Drive is through a flywheel with a pneumatic clutch and brake, the ram is balanced by two cylinders, and a safety system limits the press to single strokes. The frame is a welded box section held together by pre-tensioned tie rods.

The press stands 7 880 mm tall, of which 6 880 mm above floor, so it needs a pit of about a metre. It is 4 510 mm wide, 2 350 mm deep and weighs 108 tonnes. The original technical book comes with it.
